An elutriator uses the differences in inertial forces and gravitational settling between gas and solid phases to dislodge fine dust and fibrous contaminants from the surface of plastic granules. It effectively overcomes van der Waals forces and electrostatic adhesion by applying shear force from airflow to separate dust particles from the material surface.
In bulk-solids handling systems, the degassing silo is used to extract hazardous gases emitted from stored materials, including volatile olefins like cyclohexane, octene, and ethylene. It helps maintain a safe working environment and supports downstream processes.
